New Order/Throwing Muses - Queen Elizabeth Theatre
A rare appearance by New Order at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. I went with Bruce and some of his friends, and I bumped into Susan at this show. I did not think New Order were very inspired; they struck me as a studio band out on tour to fulfill record company requirements. I was fortunate to catch opening act Throwing Muses with their original lineup.
I had never heard of Throwing Muses until I found out they were the "Support" printed on my ticket for New Order. I was fortunate to see this incarnation of the Muses with step-sisters Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly because Tanya soon left, first to play with Kim Deal in the Breeders, and then to form her own band, Belly.
This night was really significant because it was my first night at Luv-a-Fair, a club that would become my haunt for many nights to come. I'm pretty sure that either David Hawkes or George Maniatis were DJing that night based on my recollections of the music played. This was the first night I ever heard Nine Inch Nails and Nitzer Ebb, and the beginning of my explorations of industrial dance music.

Psychedelic Furs/The Call - Expo Theatre
Last concert I saw at Expo Theatre before it was torn down.
This concert was exactly one year after the Psychedelic Furs previously played Vancouver (at the War Memorial Gym).
